Summer Camp 2023

Using the medium of creative play, our camps enhance language skills, fine and gross motor skills, and social and emotional development. Each weekly session has a different theme that will be explored through music, movement, stories, games, crafts, and more!​
Summer Camp Sessions will be held at: 

Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church
2001 Sherwood Hall Ln, Alexandria, VA 22306


Camp Hours are 9am-12pm each day

​Cost is $190 per child, per camp week
(with the exception of Rocking Rainforest camp which is $155 for the week)

Session 1: June 20-23

Rocking Rainforest ​
​Ages 3-5

 
Grab your galoshes and get ready to travel to the rainforest. Using stories, songs, and movement, we will explore this lush new environment. Become some of your favorite rainforest creatures like toucans in trees, colorful frogs on lily pads, and sloths sleeping upside down. Let the sound of the rainforest guide you through this rocking adventure.

Session 2: June 26-30

Dinosaurs Roar!​
​Ages 3-5

​
Let's jump back in time for a prehistoric party! Eat from the tallest trees like a Brontosaurus, soar through the skies like a Pterodactyl, and stomp through the jungle like a T-Rex! Through the use of sensory and creative play activities, your little one will explore dinosaurs both big and small.

Session 3: July 10-14

Teddy Bear Adventures​
​Ages 3-5


For this camp, we hereby invite campers to grab their favorite teddy bear (or other stuffed buddy!) and bring them along for a teddy bear adventure! Together, with our favorite friends from home, we’ll hike, picnic, and travel to far away places. Exploring some of our most beloved teddy bear books, we will use our bodies, voices, and imaginations to make these stories, characters, and stuffed buddies come to life!

World of Puppetry​
​Ages 5-7


Join us for a fun-filled camp where we discover the art of puppet-making and performance! We will design and make our very own puppets as we explore characterization through stories, songs, movement, and voice. With our new puppet friends, we will make some of our favorite stories come to life!

Session 4: July 17-21

Beach Days ​
Ages 3-5


Surf’s up! In this beach-themed camp, your little one will explore all the wonderful things the beach has to offer. Explore the ocean, sand, and sun through stories, songs, and dramatic play. Catch some waves, build a sandcastle, and find some seashells. There’s no end to what our bodies, voices, and imaginations can do at the beach!

Session 5: July 24-28

Under Construction

Ages 3-5

Time to get building in this construction creation camp! Build your own city space, explore bridges and levers, and even become your own excavator! Get that actors’ toolbox ready, and that imagination warmed up because it’s building time!

Behind the Scenes

Ages 5-7
​
Have you ever wondered what happens backstage to make magic appear onstage? In this camp, we will learn the importance of backstage roles. From props to costumes and everything in between, your little designers will discover what it takes to make stories come to life on stage.​

Session 6: July 31-August 4th

Superhero Academy ​
​Ages 3-5


It's a bird, it's a plane, it's - the AOTH Hero Brigade! Time to learn the tricks of the trade and become our own superhero in this superhero training camp. Our superhero instructors will help us find our inner hero through movement, music, and creative play exploration!

​Super Sleuths ​
​Ages 5-7

It's time to pull out your magnifying glass! Together we will work as an ensemble to search for clues and solve puzzles. Watch as your little one becomes a secret detective, unravelling mysteries through process drama, creative play, and sensory experiences.

Session 7: August 7-11

Space Explorers
​
​Ages 3-5


3,2,1…Blast off! Join us as we travel through space using our bodies, voices, and imaginations. Your explorer will learn and experience anti-gravity, travel to planets far and wide, and find new friends all across the galaxy!

Session 8: August 14-18

A Bug's World ​
Ages 3-5

​
We will explore the world below our feet in this bug-themed camp. Using our imaginations, bodies, and creative voices, we will hop like grasshoppers, glide like butterflies, and crawl like caterpillars. Through stories, songs, and creative movement, we will learn about some of the smallest creatures in our big, big world!
